Our Story

Founded by Dr. Doug McGuff in 1997, Ultimate Exercise provides workouts based on an understanding of the basic science of exercise and the latest literature.  We have pushed the envelope of the field and “wrote the book” on evidence-based exercise with the publishing of our best-selling book Body by Science.

The majority of our clients have been with us longer than 5 years and many have been with us since 1997!

There is a best way to achieve physical improvement and that is why all we do is professionally supervised one-on-one exercise training in the ideal exercise environment.

    I began working out at Ultimate Exercise in 2010 and began as a part time personal trainer at Ultimate Exercise in 2014. In 2018 I became the general manager at Ultimate Exercise. My greatest motivator is preventative and long-term health. Helping others to achieve this goal is my passion.

    I was a client for 9 years before starting as a trainer. This January I’ll start my 25th year doing SuperSlow workouts at Ultimate Exercise.  I believe strength training enables you to live well, and to keep doing the things you enjoy in life, no matter your age.

    I began as a trainer at Ultimate Exercise in 2024 after two and half years of dedicated workouts here. Following a health crisis that led to a lengthy recovery in 2021, I sought a workout program that provided tangible results without placing undue stress on my body. UE proved to be the perfect fit. Outside the gym, I enjoy mountain biking, hiking and gardening, and I cherish adventures with my husband Michael and our four children. I am also passionate about building meaningful one-on-one connections with my clients and supporting them in achieving their fitness goals.

    I have been a personal trainer since 2018. I fell in love with helping others grow into better versions of themselves. My favorite thing about training is pushing people beyond what they think they’re capable of, breaking down physical and mental barriers, while building strong rapport with each and every client. My mom is a personal trainer, and watching her impact other people’s lives in the gym ignited my love for fitness at an early age.

    Fitness has been an important part of my life since 2010. My experience in training began while teaching the fundamentals of exercise to students at a resident camp in Travelers Rest.
